Our guests are women around 35+ and come from all around the world. We always have older and younger women on every retreat which makes our discussions well rounded and robust. Our guests come from literally everywhere; different age groups, nationalities, sizes, backgrounds, and goals. Everyone is welcome.
By 2025, over 1.5 billion women will be in some phase of menopause. That’s a significant number of our sisters, mothers, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Our commonality is as diverse and uniquely wonderful we all are, since we’re all women. We can learn from our mentors, certainly. But what we can learn from each other? That’s the amazing part of the equation.
You’ll land at Ngurah Rai International Airport, (DPS) in Denpasar. We’ll coordinate transportation with our drivers and will let you know more details closer to your arrival. Once you clear immigration and customs, you’ll enter a wide lobby with loads of people greeting arrivals. Look for your name on a Windrose World Retreats™ card and our driver will escort you to the Villa.
Bali is a very safe country for solo travelers. We’ll have our drivers there to meet you and make sure you arrive safe and sound to your room. If for any reason you miss your pick-up, simply ask one of the local taxi vendors. Rates should be around 350-400,000 IDR. Don’t be afraid to negotiate. You’ll have about an hour and a half ride ahead of you. Make sure you’ve visited the toilet and have a beverage.
We offer single, double and triple [upon request] accommodations and are happy to match you with another participant(s). Just answer a few questions on our questionnaire and we’ll find a harmonious partner for your stay.
ModernMenopause™ Windrose World Retreats™ are devoted to women who have yet to experience menopause, are peri-menopausal, full-tilt menopausal and post-menopausal. We welcome all ages, ethnicities, and identities. You’ll meet local teachers, healers, cultural leaders, artisans — some real colorful characters to round out our circle.
Our menus are primarily plant-based vegetarian or Ayurvedic foods. We’ll accommodate food allergies to the best of our abilities. Please discuss with us in advance to ensure a safe and healthy experience. For example, although accessible, decaffeinated coffee is not common in Indonesia. Don’t hesitate to tell us of any special requests.
Our retreats are focused on giving women the power to take charge of the changes in their lives through information, practices and sharing. Menopause is complicated and confusing. We want to make it simple so that every life is the best it can be.
Bali is a magical and mystical place, sacred as the source for natural healing in Southeast Asia for generations. The natural beauty as well as the spiritual harmony is the perfect backdrop for manifesting this stage of life and for years to come.
Please have a valid passport that extends for at least 6months after your entry into Indonesia. You may purchase a Visa On Arrival (VOA) at the airport for about $33 US that is good for 30 days. This visa can be extended for another 30 for a total of 60 days. Let us know if you plan on staying longer than 30 days and we’ll get you in touch with our visa agent here.
Please have your QR code vaccination card available on your phone. No test results are needed currently, but please check here for any updates from the Indonesian government.
We believe all things are great in moderation, and many of our guests enjoy a sunset cocktail during their stay with us in Bali. While we aren’t an alcohol-free retreat, we do not serve alcohol on the retreat premises, and we encourage our guests to explore the great health benefits of taking a break from alcohol as part of their wellness retreat.
Indonesia is a Muslim country, so alcohol is heavily taxed. You might want to consider picking up your favorite spirit or wine at a Duty Free shop on your journey. You may bring in 1 1.5 liter bottle, 21+ years of age.
Yes. WiFi is available throughout the resorts.
One of the benefits of yoga is that it attracts women from all walks of life, creating a community that’s as diverse as the women in it.
Yoga isn’t about being perfect or having perfect form. It’s so much more than being able to make complex shapes with your body. We’re all students striving to be better. A better woman, a better person, a better citizen. This is a chance to share not just a yoga practice, but to develop new relationships with other like-minded women. And yourself.
We have 2 distinct seasons here in Bali where the temperature for both is around 90° F or 30° C. ‘Dry’ season, April – November, is beautifully sunny and warm during the day and balmy at night (no less than 25°C). ‘Green’ season, November – March, welcomes hot sunny days with a daily late afternoon shower, which keeps Bali beautiful and blooming with greenery! Evenings can be a bit on the cool side, so light layering is recommended. If you get wet, the sun will reappear no time.
What to Know Before You Come
We’ll be organizing Zoom calls to introduce ourselves, your chosen Marquee Speaker and each other. We’ll give you an overview of what to expect but here are some common topics. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.
Travel Insurance
Purchasing Travel Insurance is MANDATORY. Windrose World Retreats™ is not financially liable for any cancellations or circumstances out of our control (e.g. changes to your schedule, acts of God, pregnancy, any Covid restrictions enforced by CDC or Indonesian government before or during your retreat, etc.). We want to protect you, and require trip insurance to help protect your investment.
Transport
We’ll be meeting you at the airport, Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). Once you clear immigration and customs, you’ll walk out into a large lobby thronged with people picking up guests. Look for your name on a Windrose World Retreats™ sign. We’ll be fetching you in groups for your journey from Denpasar to Ubud which will take about an hour and a half. Your driver peaks English, so you’ll be able to communicate easily.
If you’re arriving early and would like to arrange your pickup in advance of our dates, we can recommend a trustworthy driver. If so, transport from the airport to Ubud or to your accommodation in case you arrive a few days prior to the training. It’s about $25-30 USD = 350.000/400.000 IDR from the airport to Ubud – as a reference. We can also suggest accommodations if needed.
Passport
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A VALID PASSPORT! (Your passport cannot expire in less than 6 months from the date of you LEAVING Bali!) Routine processing takes 6 to 9 weeks.
Visa & Requirements
VOA (Visa on Arrival) can be obtained by travelers coming from 72+ countries – Information.
No more PCR test for fully vaccinated.
You can also arrange your visa if you wish to stay longer in Bali with our Visa Agent.
Local Currency: Indonesian Rupiah [IDR]
The currency in Bali is the Indonesian Rupiah. You cannot use any other currency to pay locally. There are shops and ATMs close by so you don’t have to stack up all the cash for your whole trip at the airport on your arrival. Just so you don’t get confused with a lot of zeros, 1 Million IDR is appx. 65-70 USD 🙂 The exchange rates fluctuates, but a rule of thumb is 15,000IDR = $1 USD
Plan on having some rupiah with you upon arrival for tips and incidentals. ATM’s dispense 100,000 IDR notes.
Local Sim
If you’re considering buying an Indo SIM card, we recommend simPATI – they have the best data coverage. For the activation you’ll need your passport (or a picture of it) and they will have to enter some codes into your phone so don’t worry if they are asking for your passport and phone. It’s normal. Any mobile shop will do this and there’s hundreds in Ubud so it’s really easy to arrange. Check with your home provider to assess if you need an INDO SIM, or can use your current number.
Most Indonesians use this FREE app for free encrypted calling. This make make it easy to keep in touch with people you meet, ability to call GoJek and other local transportation. As well as Internationally.
GoJek App
This FREE app is similar to Uber or Lyft. You can specify motorbike or car when you book. It’s a great way to get around without having to chase down a driver on the street. And it’s cheaper. Download the app before you arrive and get familiar with it. We’ll also discuss during our Zoom calls.
Check In
You may check into Villa Shanti or Joglo Liang from 1 PM on. Should you arrive earlier, you can rest in the lobby or take a dip in the pool as you wait for your room to be prepared. Or go to the restaurant for a snack. Early check-ins/check-outs are subject to hotel availability and by their approval. Start Time: Opening ceremony and BLESSING will begin at 4:30PM
Laundry
There are laundry services on site so no need to overpack wink-wink 🙂
